Delaware grey fox request for Comment

** NTA Alert – Delaware Gray Fox **

REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS

Delaware Trappers are requesting that trappers nationwide submit
comments opposing the proposed regulation change that would require
all gray fox taken, killed or captured to be reported to the Division
of Fish and Wildlife within seven (7) days using its established
reporting system(s). The proposed 7 day requirement presents the same
concerns as next day reporting and should be opposed in favor of the
current end of year survey used by the Division.

Reporting within 7 days of gray fox incidental harvest is a burden to
trappers and will likely result in less accurate harvest reports than
the currently used survey report at the end of the season. Trappers
who forget to report a fox within 7 days will not report it due to
being afraid of breaking the law. The end of season survey will
satisfy the reporting requirement of the Department for gray fox,
increase reporting accuracy and not put undue burden on the already
dwindling trapping community.

You do not need to be a Delaware resident to submit public comments,
and all comments received will be considered equally. Due to the
amount of comments received In October, the Division was required to
revise the regulation and in order for this regulation to be stopped,
Delaware Trappers need your help once again.

Individuals may submit written comments regarding the proposed changes
via e-mail to Lisa.Vest@state.de.us [1] or via the USPS to Lisa Vest,
Hearing Officer, DNREC, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901 (302) 739-9042.

After February 1st, 2016 public comments will no longer be accepted.
Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to help a fellow trapper.
